Editors-in-Chief

Dr Jürgen Rudolph

Dr Jürgen Rudolph has spent three decades in higher education, earning 7,000+ citations (h-index 20). As Editor-in-Chief, he lifted the Journal of Applied Learning & Teaching into Scopus Q1 (top 5 % in Education) and has produced 100+ publications on AI, crisis leadership, and pedagogy, amongst other topics. Formerly Director of Research & Learning Innovation of a private education institution in Singapore, he devised institution-wide strategies for teaching, research, and AI adoption, while sustaining 90–100 % student-satisfaction scores across multiple modules from Sustainability Management to Entrepreneurship. He has chaired 30+ international symposia, built global partnerships, and co-authored Routledge’s Teaching Well (2023). Jürgen holds a PhD (summa cum laude), MBA, MEd, and MA, is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and brings proven entrepreneurial and senior-leadership expertise.

Professor Tania Aspland

Emeritus Professor Tania Aspland has been employed in higher education and the university sector since 1980. During the past twenty years she has focused her expertise around several areas of scholarship. These include: teacher education, postgraduate pedagogy, thesis supervision of international students, productive pedagogies in higher education, higher education curriculum studies, students of difference, curriculum leadership, professional development, and specialist studies in education.

Professor Tania Aspland is currently the Deputy Chairperson of the open-access Journal of Applied Learning & Teaching, and Vice President (Academic) with Kaplan (ANZ). Previously she was Dean and Professor, Education Policy and Strategy (2018-2019), at Australian Catholic University following a term as Executive Dean of the Faculty of Education and Arts at ACU (2013-2018) and prior to that, Professor and Dean of Education at the University of Adelaide(2009-2013). She has been a leader of learning and teaching and curriculum development and accreditation in higher education for many years and is currently engaged in a number of research projects in higher education and teacher education. Aspland has developed an international reputation for community capacity building in Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Hong Kong, The Philippines, and Vietnam. She has evidenced-based success with action learning as a project- based learning strategy in developing countries. Aspland has engaged with colleagues in off-shore contexts in the fields of higher education, curriculum development and evaluation, educational leadership, and thesis supervision. She has also instigated new models of work-integrated learning within schools and universities, to support the process of curriculum development and leadership. The building of a professional portfolio, the centrality of professional attributes, an investigative orientation to learning and a process of student self-auditing are key innovations that are central to her work in education.

Dr Fiona Tang

Dr Fiona Xiaofei Tang, AFHERDSA, is Managing Editor of the Journal of Applied Learning & Teaching and TESOL in Context (the official journal of the Australian Council of TESOL Associations), and the inaugural Academic Learning Specialist (Academic Level C) at Kaplan Business School, Australia. Holding a PhD in Linguistics and an honorary Visiting Research Fellowship at the Australian National University, she brings extensive cross-sector experience in higher education across Australia and China. An award-winning educator and researcher, Dr Tang has published widely on digital education, second language acquisition, flipped learning, textbook evaluation, and teacher professional development. Her editorial leadership is supported by a cross-disciplinary publication record across refereed journals, conference proceedings, edited volumes, and monographs. She is also author/editor of Learnability of Grammar (2017) and both editions of Introduction to Society and Culture of Britain and America (2018, 2021).

Digital Production Editor

Dr Sarah Low

As Digital Production Editor for the Journal of Applied Learning & Teaching and Curriculum and Scholarship Design Specialist at Kaplan Business School, Australia, Dr Sarah Low, AFHEA, brings a decade of expertise spanning curriculum design, digital learning innovation, academic and industry practice. She holds a PhD in leadership development, where she contributed a research‑based definition of transversal leadership and has published on effective adult learning methods. Her career spans across higher education and health roles in Australia, Qatar, and Samoa. Sarah specialises in transformative learning and creating engaging, evidence‑informed learning experiences. She supports JALT’s publishing workflows by ensuring high‑quality digital production, accessibility, and editorial rigour.
